Animal welfare in Durango: duties that begin at home
The law is not a remote checklist for lawyers. Families can use it to inspect the home, prevent unsupervised roaming, and ask better questions before hiring a caregiver.

Durango's animal welfare law sets a minimum standard of care. A dog or cat needs water, food, a suitable place to rest, protection from weather, and veterinary attention when necessary. These are not rewards for good behavior. They are ongoing duties.
