If your dog is coughing, daycare can wait
Zero risk is the wrong promise to seek. Ask how staff detect symptoms, where they separate a sick dog, and when they call the family.
AVMA explains that kennel cough belongs to a respiratory disease complex with several possible causes. It can spread where dogs gather. A dog with coughing, nasal discharge, watery eyes, fever, or low energy should not enter daycare or boarding.
