Apartment enrichment: tiring a dog does not always create calm
The right activity depends on the dog and the day. When a dog finishes more aroused, mouths hands, or cannot rest, adding minutes may make things worse.

Merck Veterinary Manual describes enrichment as changes to the environment that allow important animal behavior. In an apartment, this may mean searching for kibble, solving an easy toy, chewing something safe, or learning a cue. Not every activity requires running.
